As Fall is beginning and Nature is showing her bright autumn colors before the gray of
winter descends, I am reminded that we, too, experience seasons of brightness and energy
and those of darkness and inner solitude. All of life’s seasons have purpose and are
phases of our evolution as spiritual beings in human form. This awareness inspires
my offering the following affirmative prayer:
I know that there is only One Power, Presence and Source in the Universe and beyond.
This One is Divine Intelligence and Creativity, Peace, Oneness and Joy.
And I know that in this Fall season, just as most of Nature’s flora and fauna withdraw into
a time of quiet and regeneration, a time to store up energy before the bursting forth of
new life in Spring…so too do we enter a time of respite from the brightness and busy-ness
of summer.
We may use this time for getting cozy and warm in our homes, lighting our candles
and fireplaces, settling in with warm refreshments and well-loved books. We may find
ourselves spending less time with others and more time in quiet alone time, renewing
our friendship and caring for ourselves–enjoying our own company and having more
time for our spiritual practices of prayer, meditation, reflection, reading, taking classes,
journaling, letting go of old beliefs that no longer serve us and opening up to new
possibilities for our life.
I know that in all of these pursuits, each of us is guided by Spirit within and are
renewed by a deeper relationship with ourselves and God. We allow ourselves
to rest, to be quiet, to contemplate, to dream, to breathe deeply.
And so I know that this season is one of joy and peace. An important time of
renewal and slowing down.
And I am thankful for this season of growth and renewal.
And I know that my Word is always accepted and sent back to me fulfilled.
So I release and let go and let it be. And so it is.
