2021 … here we go!

July 18th – Rev Lisa Carson, CSL Thailand, Special Guest

Introduced to The Paradise Church of Religious Science at the age of 14, Rev. Lisa fell in love with the Science of Mind philosophy and the teen summer camps. She studied the teachings on and off through college, as she earned her B.A. and teaching credential in the mid 80’s. She returned to studying Science of Mind more seriously, becoming a licensed minister in 2004. Lisa has worked in various ministerial capacities since then. From 2015 to 2019, she was the Assistant Minister at the Center for Spiritual Living Chico, working as the Youth and Family Director.

She was ordained in 2018 and in August of 2019, her desire for travel and living overseas returned, as she left on a “pilgrimage” interviewing people for her Rev. On The Road YouTube Channel. Sharing spiritual insights from Copenhagen, Germany, Switzerland and Italy, she returned to India where she lived for four months in a spiritual eco village.

Lisa continued her travels, heading to Thailand in early February 2020. Southeast Asia had been Rev. Lisa’s intended goal, a place that she desired to teach SOM after previous visits. She is now the Senior Minister at The Centre for Spiritual Living Thailand, which was started by the late Rev. Rob Applegate. She intends to share the teaching with many parts of Thailand, both online and in person when possible.

After almost two years away, in part due to Covid travel restrictions, Rev. Lisa has come back to the U.S. for the summer. She is speaking at various CSL Centers, sharing about cultural diversity and her journey. Lisa plans to return to her Thailand home in August.

July 11th – Rev Dr. Kenn Gordon, Special Guest

Dr. Kenn retired from ministry in 2020 and spends his time now speaking and supporting ministries all over the world.  He is an advocate for our teaching in every iteration and strongly believes that every individual must find a way to give themselves to life. His main message is to remind us that we must stop changing our values in order to match our opinions and instead change our opinions to reflect our values.

June 13th – Swami Beyondananda (Steve Bhaerman)

From the political to the personal, economic to ecologic, we seem to be a world immersed in crisis.  And in times like these, it’s love and laughter that lifts our spirits.  And when we add the power of humor to break us out of ordinary thinking, and spark creative solutions we recognize that humor, comedy and laughter are “resilience tools” that help us heal ourselves and bring light to others.

Using humor in challenging times is not a form of denial, but rather a kind of “radical acceptance” that brings light to darkness, and the lightness of levity to otherwise grave situations.  Levity is the leavening of life … that gives us the power to uplift our own faces, and the spirits of those around us.

Join Steve Bhaerman, the man behind the legendary “cosmic comic” Swami Beyondananda, for an inspiring, encouraging talk on how we can use laughter to shine a light on the darkness, and light the path ahead of us.

She was remodeling her house and needed a place to store it for a few months. That was my opening to pursue my dream of being a singer/songwriter just like her. I taught myself how to play piano, wrote cheesy, teenage-angst-songs and fell in love with music.”

When she went to Hollywood High she discovered acting, comedy, and the joy of being on stage. She idolized Carol Burnett and dreamed of being a musical comedy actress.
